This is a c.1916 Oscar Schmidt made guitar labelled ‘Victoria’. Playing this little gem is Kirtan Artist PRALAD, performing the timeless mantra ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Haribol – Chaitanya, Chaitanya, Haribol”.

This is such a sweet sounding little Oscar Schmidt guitar that can be dated from the 1915-16 catalog of the distributor (‘jobber’) of the ‘Victoria label, Buegeleisen & Jacobson (B & J).

Listed as Style 283, it has a faux painted rosewood finish over maple back and sides. The finish was never meant to mislead anyone and it is more stylized than realistic. Beautiful red purfling front and back, I would expect very few of this model survived in this condition. It still has the original ‘Victoria’ paper label inside and also the ‘Victoria’ crown decal on the back of the headstock in mint condition.
No doubt it is made by the Oscar Schmidt Company, it has all the characteristics.
